Okay Folks,
as my report for December won’t be posted until the 1st of January
2019 it seems appropriate to provide a special edition report for Christmas
(2018). I have
always enjoyed Christmas and truly feel that it is a very special time of year.
As a Christian I especially enjoy the Nativity and all that goes with it.
However, even if we leave the religious aspect aside, I still feel it is a
special time of year. To me it is a time to celebrate our families and friends,
a time when perhaps we should forget old arguments and rebuild friendships. I
think this is particularly relevant as a New Year is just around the corner, a
chance, a possible opportunity to build a brighter future. If you are
on your own without friends or family don’t be afraid to go to church, you will
always be made welcome. I am not ultra-religious and don’t go to church
regularly, but sometimes you can feel a little closer to God in his house. If
you feel really daring, say bollocks to everybody and take yourself off to
Spain for a Christmas break, you will soon meet others in the same position as
yourself. With regard
to my sparky chums, I do hope you have been good all year and that Santa leaves
you a copy of that nice new blue book in your stocking. My
Christmas wish for everybody is that I hope you all have a healthy new year, we
are not yet at the point of a cure-all for everything but we are getting
tantalisingly close. we always hope for a prosperous new year as well and
although that may sound like a bit of greed creeping in, it is a basic fact of
life. We do need to pay bills. I could say that I wish for peace on earth (and
that would be fantastic) but the truth is there will always be bad guys and
unfortunately, the only thing they understand is a big stick, so we do
occasionally have to go to war in order to protect our freedom or defend the
weak. I will
leave you on a festive note – what is your favourite carol? I would go for “In the
Bleak Mid-winter” in pole position, very closely followed by “Once in Royal
David’s City”. But whatever
you do, enjoy yourself and don’t do anything you don’t want to. I sincerely hope
all my readers and those who aren’t have a very merry Christmas and an extremely
cool yule. |
